Vesselka to Develop Concept Note and Feasibility Study for an Eco-Park in Azdavay, Turkey

Azdavay municipality has requested a concept note to develop a community eco-park at the edge of the town.  The area is ideally located for a regional eco learning and activity center that can also accommodate a limited number of overnight stays.  Once the concept is agreed upon, Vesselka will complete a feasibility study and implementation plan in partnership with the Küre Mountains Ecotourism Society.

The Black Sea Sustainable Rural Tourism Program annual members' meeting held June 11 – 14 in Hola Prystan, Kherson Oblast, Ukraine

 

The Mayor of Azdavay, Turkey, venue of last year’s meeting, joined the Mayor of Hola Prystan in welcoming members to the forum. Danone - Ukraine sponsored the event and also presented its Family Farm program which supports small dairy farms in Ukraine to build sustainable and more productive operations.  The event premiered the new Program web-portal that will form the core of the for-profit component of the integrated community led, sustainable tourism effort as well as presentation of the sustainability criteria to be used by communities, developed by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council.

Danone Ukraine to Sponsor Black Sea Meeting

Danone Ukraine has generously agreed to sponsor the Members Meeting of the Black Sea Sustainable Rural Tourism Program in Kherson, Ukraine taking place from June 11 - 14.

Danone Ecosystem Fund lends its support to Ukrainian rural families that produce up to 80% of labor intense agricultural products (milk, vegetables and fruits). Danone's efforts in Ukraine contribute to uniting rural communities through developing cooperatives and scaling up smallholders.

Vesselka signs a Memorandum of Understanding with S.R.L. - S.C. Jalil Holding and Jalil Holding Ltd to support business investment in Afghanistan. The objective will be to source and negotiate investments for medium business and small scale manufacturing facilities, principally in and around Kabul.

Vesselka and World Wildlife Fund - Turkey to hold Black Sea Meeting in Kherson, Ukraine

Vesselka with its partners World Wildlife Fund (Turkey) and the Küre Mountains Ecotourism Society announced the next Members Meeting of the Black Sea Sustainable Rural Tourism Program will be held on June 12, 13 in Hola Pristyn’, near Kherson, Ukraine at the “Chaika” Green Recreation Center. Among the attendees will be the Mayor of Azdavay, Turkey and Head of Administration of Hola Pristyn’ as well as representatives from Danone and community destination leaders from Turkey, Ukraine and Georgia. The meeting will also feature a presentation by TrainingAid from Hamburg, Germany which is developing the travel portal for the Program.

Vesselka, World Wildlife Fund-Turkey and Küre Mountains Ecotourism Society Announce Membership Meeting in Ukraine

Vesselka, World Wildlife Fund (Turkey) and the Küre Mountains Ecotourism Society met with representatives from the towns of Ulus, Daday, Azdavay, Pinarbaşi and Kastamonu at the Ministry of Forestry and Water Management of Turkey to present and discuss standards and criteria that have been established for participation in the Black Sea Sustainable Rural Tourism Program. The criteria will be finalized at the next Members Meeting.

Contract Signed with NIRAS, Finland for Land Administration Project II in Palestine

A two year sub-contract was signed with NIRAS, Finland for the Land Administration Project II in Palestine. The project is implemented by the Palestinian Lands Authority (PLA) with funding from the Government of Finland and the World Bank. The aim of the project is to improve the design and implementation of the Land Registration system in Palestine through three components:

 

1: Completion of systematic registration in selected areas;

2: Institutional development of the PLA; and

3: Project Management

Round-tables Held in Three Turkish Communities for the Black Sea Sustainable Rural Tourism Program

Between October 16 and 22 three round-table talks were held with community leaders in Ulus, Pinarbaşi and Cide to assess levels of interest for participation in the BSST Program. The round-tables were attended by approximately 30 representatives from NGOs, community activists and local businesses. The responses were lively and informative and the questionnaire developed to gauge needs and knowledge was distributed. The questionnaires will be collected for analysis by our partner, Kure Mountains Ecotourism Society at the end of November.
